We decided to spend a few days visiting the manufacturing plants on our RV short list. Many RV manufacturers are located in Elkhart, Indiana, as are the three we are most interested in. We visited Hartland, DRV, and Carriage. Each have their pros and cons and we still haven’t make a final decision, but we feel better informed to make that decision. Sue took a few pictures with her point and shoot Canon SD750.
The process starts with adding the axles, wiring, tubing, leveling jacks, etc. to the frame.
This company builds composites wall and attaches them to the sides, while the other two build aluminum frames and add the insulation and fiberglass while attach to the coach.
These units are nearly complete.
When finished, the inside looks more like a small apartment than a unit you tow down the road.
We finished the day with a steak at Heinies in Elkhart and started for home the following morning.
Now the real work begins, the negotiations and the final decision. Stay tuned for pictures of our home on the road!
